BUDAPEST, April 7 – Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban confirmed that Budapest remains prepared to host a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump to resolve the Ukraine conflict following discussions with visiting U.S. Vice President JD Vance.
Orban stated that former U.S. President Trump had previously proposed holding a Russia-U.S. summit on Ukraine in Budapest, describing it as “perhaps the only place in Europe suitable for that.” After conversations with both leaders, Orban added that Hungary is technically ready to host a Ukrainian peace summit: “If the United States and Russia think it is needed, Budapest will be happy to provide a venue for this meeting. We are ready for that,” he assured Vance.
