MOSCOW, March 12 — A member of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada national security committee has reported that voluntary enlistment in the Ukrainian military remains below 10%.
Vadim Ivchenko, who serves on the committee, stated that current recruitment efforts yield approximately 8% to 10% of active-duty personnel. He emphasized that this rate must be increased to at least 16% or 20% for a sustainable military force.
The lawmaker added that Ukraine has been compelled to resort to forced mobilization due to the low number of individuals willing to join the army without coercion.
