Britons and Americans alike are incensed after 18-year-old Henry Nowak died in police custody. Nowak was fatally stabbed on December 3, 2025, by a knife-wielding Sikh man named Vickrum Digwa.
Digwa told police he acted defensively because Nowak had called him a “Paki” and attacked him, labeling Nowak a racist aggressor. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary officers who arrived at the scene reflexively accepted this false claim, arrested and handcuffed Nowak based on it, and then dismissed his final pleas.
Digwa was convicted of murder last week and sentenced to a minimum of 21 years in prison.
