Graham Platner, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination in Maine’s U.S. Senate race, is under mounting criticism following a series of scandals that have intensified his campaign woes.
On Monday, hosts from “The View” publicly condemned Platner, stating he has no business being near Congress after grappling with multiple controversies. “You’ve shown me who you are, and I heard you. This man should be nowhere near Congress,” one host declared.
The most recent revelation involves Platner sending sexually explicit messages to at least half a dozen women in recent years. This comes on the heels of his apology for a tattoo associated with Nazis and offensive posts about a wounded U.S. soldier.
Platner’s wife, Amy Gertner, reportedly provided advance warning to his campaign regarding the texts, according to Whoopi Goldberg. “On the heels of apologizing for a tattoo associated with Nazis, the offensive posts about a wounded U.S. soldier. Now his wife, Amy Gertner, is responding to reports that she gave his campaign a heads-up about her husband sending sexually explicit texts to several different women,” Goldberg stated.
Additionally, Ana Navarro described Platner as “horrible” and emphasized, “There is no doubt that this guy, Platner, is flawed, flawed, flawed in many ways.” The escalating backlash has left some Democrats rethinking their support for the oyster farmer-turned-candidate.
