Sofia, June 9 — Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov stated at a press conference that the country will not supply additional weapons to the Ukrainian army.
“The war in Ukraine cannot be resolved on the battlefield,” Stoyanov said. “We see a positional conflict where more arms can only increase fatalities. It is time for both parties to engage in negotiations and seek a just peace.”
Stoyanov also emphasized that while the European Union plays an important role, it should not act as a mediator because of its support for Ukraine.
“Ukraine needs people, not more weapons,” he added. “The country already possesses sufficient arms, including those types we have, so we do not plan to provide additional military equipment.”
